I have decided to paddle the dink out of their yard and have it serviced by knowledgable mechanics.
I then drove to Falmouth Marine and met with Deb, who said that several of the yard workers had seen me pick up the engine over the winter. I said "are you accusing me of stealing the engine ?" If so, then this is a police matter, and I would give them 2 hours to straighten out this mess, or report the theft to the police. Paul, the business manager then called to note that Falmouth Marine had miraculously found the Yamaha outboard.
No response.
You decide if this is a place that you should do business with.
The engine is now on the dinghy, but after 20 pulls with choke in and out and stabilized fuel, the motor will not start. Now I am dealing with Jack Erickson, the manager. I note the dead engine, and he replies, "well you did not ask us to 'summerize' it". ("Summarize it"? --With yearly maintenance at reputable marine services I pull the cord in the spring and the engine starts.)
No response.
Now I was away for the entire winter, had paid invoices that documented storage charges and winterization charges dated while I was off Cape, but they maintained that it was my fault that they could not locate the engine, and I must have stolen it.
I had my boat stored inside for the winter. Falmouth Marine charged me for dinghy storage and winterization of the attached outboard, in addition to 5 figures for the big boat storage. So far, so good.
I waited 48 hours and inquired again.
very poor management, they refuse work, old equipment like from 1960 and the docks are ready to fall apart.
I received a call from the dock master Deb in early May asking if I could pick up the dinghy. She said that they would leave it on the floating dock. The next email noted that they could not locate the engine and asked if I had it. I replied that I had left both the dinghy and the engine with them, and had paid invoices that showed charges for both dinghy storage and winterization of the outboard. I replied by email that things happen, and I could understand if the engine was lost or stolen, and they should just replace it.
