World war 11 staging and training area for troops to be sent overseas to fight in war. Parts of the Island is shared by the US military with anyone who cares to rent a campsite. The charge is unbelievably low but you have to put your rental in early at US Coast Guard/ Camp Edwards military base Falmouth, Bourne and Sandwich. Gorgeous views, pristine island among one of natures unspoiled areas.
Beautiful area, lots of beach space, plenty of space for kids to explore.
One of the most beautiful parks in Massachusetts. The few people you will encounter on the island are often very friendly and like minded, as the island is only accessible by boat. The island managers who care to the campsites are helpful in answering any questions you may have. Waquoit Bay has so much to offer from boating and fishing, the beaches, and ocean sports. As many others have said, be careful of the poison ivy that covers the whole island.
