Shucker's was running more than their usual special the night we visited, two 11/4 lb. lobsters, mussels, and clams for $25.99. Awesome right? Lots 'O lobster. Well, we like lobster but two specials was more than what we wanted so we ordered one special for both of us and agreed to pay the $10 up-charge. What do you get for the up-charge? Nada. Not even an extra ear of corn. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. Oh, and the mussels are not that good.

A cape cod icon. Run by Murph and his wife this place serves great fresh seafood craft beers in an incredible water side setting. Down an alley off the main street in woods hole this is a must see stop for those traveling to the vineyard or just enjoying woods hole.

Is a restaurant considered the "HOSPITALITY" business?

Most people with a disregard for how a restaurant dining room works would have moved to the table in the shade without first asking. We were polite and asked to move from our blistering hot table in the sun to a free and empty shady table right next to ours . We had not yet been served our meals and had been waiting quite some time for our food. The shady table sat empty.. The manager /owner man was insistent that changing tables was against his "rules"and made his case to my polite request with the ugliest tone and demeanor . In his small view he was trying to prevent a "checkerboard" situation with the tables despite the shady table sitting there empty for 20-25 minutes. He was most unkind and obviously does not care about his customers or their happiness when they are guests in his restaurant. He informed me with great piety that he had been in the business for 30 years. I think it's time for him to get out of the business if he can't move a 68 year old out of the blistering sun with gracious appreciation for having first been asked. I can see from some reviews that his callous attitude has been experienced by others. Maybe they should change the "S" in their name to an "F" . That way everyone will know well in advance what to expect when making a simple request of the owner/ manager.

My wife and I make the hour and a half drive to Shuckers World Famous Raw Bar a couple times every year and have always been happy with the meal and service. Today was different. My wife and I ordered the “World-Famous Lobster Boil” as we usually do. Her lobster was cooked perfectly and mine was a runny mess. When I cracked the lobster the meat poured out of the shell. I never send food back to the kitchen but this time I had no choice. The chef instructed the server to tell us “this is a normal lobster”. I felt bad for her because she was caught in the middle and she was doing a fantastic job. I completely understand that lobsters can be bad for many reasons, like cooking a dead lobster or perhaps it had been frozen and thawed a couple times. Either way, it shouldn’t be acceptable to serve to a customer who is paying $26 for the world-famous lobster boil, not to mention the chance for illness from eating bad seafood. I asked the server to show the chef the liquid lobster meat and asked to speak to the manager (who is also the owner). The owner agreed to replace my meal with another one. That was good but left us eating our meals at different times. I told the owner I felt insulted by the chef’s comment and that this is far from a normal lobster, and all she said was “sorry”. While sorry was nice, there was no understanding on her part that this was an inconvenience to us. She didn’t seem to care if we were happy or not. The check came and we paid full price for both meals. Yes, we did tip the server more than 20% because it was certainly not her fault we left unhappy. All I can say is, if you are willing to take the chance of getting a bad meal with no concern from the owner, then go here. We will never go here again and we will find another seafood restaurant where they will be happy to get our return business.

Portuguese mussels were DELICIOUS... Daughter loved lobster Mac n cheese wife said best lobster roll she ever ate. Staff awsome and friendly. Well, well worth the trip. We will be back

Just recently we had the Shucker's experience. Granted, it was after a long labor day weekend and the staff was likely burnt out but we felt like we caught everyone on a bad day, including the bartender.
